Unlike academic or professional courses there is no fixed curriculae for learning reiki. There are three basic levels of training known as level I, level II and level III. There is no fixed time limit to learn or complete these levels. Its more of a guru disciple tradition. The guru or master decides if the disciple is capable enough of learning the reiki levels. It is another matter that nowadays some teachers are completing all III levels of training within a few weeks! I highly doubt the efficacy of such training. Teachers must guide students through their individual spiritual progress, gently. A spiritual tradition like reiki can not be packaged or learnt in a hurry.

To become a reiki practitioner requires receiving the attunements in person from a teacher who has also received the attunements and training. Complete Reiki training is imparted in 3 stages. Each stage is called a reiki degree or reiki level.
